
Dr. Sital Mohanty
Assistant Professor
Dr. Mohanty taught (2016-18) at the Department of Sociology and Women’s Studies & Research Centre (WSRC), Banasthali University, Jaipur (Rajasthan). She has previously worked in the capacities of Consultant and Project Assistant at the National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), New Delhi; Programmer at the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA), Government of India, New Delhi; Project Fellow to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi. During her stint (2009-10) at MoMA, she has worked in the ‘Prime Minister’s New 15 Point Programme’ pertaining to assessment of various minorities related multi-sectoral development issues; planning, monitoring, and evaluation of existing schemes of minorities. She has also extended consultancies to Rajiv Gandhi Central University of Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha State Open University.
Dr. Mohanty has been a Life Member of Indian Sociological Society and Member of International Sociological Association. While working at Banasthali University she was the Member of Research Advisory Committee (RAC). Her areas of research include sociology of health, gender studies, knowledge systems, technology and human values, culture and development. She has research publications in high impact & SCOPUS-indexed journals including Review of Development and Change, Journal of Human Values, Social Change, Sociological Bulletin, The Eastern Anthropologist, Social Science Gazetteer among others and several edited volumes including Routledge (Forthcoming) and Mittal. She has more than a dozen academic papers presented in national and international conferences. She has supervised 4 PG Diploma Dissertations and currently supervising PhD students.
