Doctor of Philosophy of Psychology
Overview
The Department of Psychology has introduced the Ph.D. program, offering both full-time and part-time options. This program is designed to cultivate essential skills while equipping scholars with expertise in their chosen areas. We aim to empower scholars to contribute meaningfully to individual and societal well-being through research and evidence-based practices. Thrust areas – Positive Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Organizational Behavior, and Human Resource Management.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Psychology
Applicants must possess a master’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university, with a minimum of 55% marks.
- Foster the ability to critically analyze literature and gain an in-depth understanding of diverse psychological theories.
- Provide scholars with the expertise to design and execute original research while ensuring adherence to ethical standards in both research and practice.
- Train scholars in the use of various software tools for analyzing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data.
- Enhance skills for effectively presenting research findings and prepare scholars for careers in academia, research institutions, and professional practice.
The Ph.D. program spans five years, with the four years dedicated to coursework.
The selection process includes qualifying for the university-level entrance exam, KIITEE, followed by personal interviews. Candidates who have cleared the NET exam are exempt from the KIITE and are eligible for selection through personal interviews.
Full-time research scholars receive financial aid per the university’s guidelines and norms. Additionally, applicants awarded with JRF are eligible for a fellowship from the UGC.
