The School of Liberal Studies, KIIT Deemed to be University, recently organised an inspiring interaction for the first-year students of its B.A. and M.A. programmes with the Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor, KIIT-DU, Prof. (Dr.) Debashis Bandyopadhyay. The interaction marked an important moment in the School’s efforts to build a cohesive, inclusive, and vibrant academic community by bringing students together across programmes and creating spaces for meaningful dialogue.

The session was also addressed by the Dean, School of Liberal Studies, Prof. (Dr.) Sakshi Kaul who welcomed the students and encouraged them to approach their university journey with curiosity, confidence, and enthusiasm. The Dean highlighted the opportunities available within the School and motivated the students to actively engage with its academic and intellectual environment.

A key highlight of the programme was the Pro Vice-Chancellor’s distinctive approach to student engagement. Prof. Dr. Bandyopadhyay personally interacted with the students in a warm and open one-to-one peer interaction, inviting them to speak about their reasons for choosing their programmes, their expectations from university life, and their hopes and aspirations. The interaction transformed what could have been a conventional orientation session into an intimate platform for listening, dialogue, and connection.

For the first-year cohort, this was the first opportunity to interact with students from across the B.A. and M.A. programmes on such a large scale. By encouraging students to listen to one another and share their individual journeys, the Pro Vice-Chancellor helped create bridges across programmes and academic backgrounds. The interaction fostered a sense of belonging and reinforced the idea that the School of Liberal Studies is not merely a collection of programmes, but a shared intellectual community. Prof. Dr. Bandyopadhyay also spoke about the larger meaning of KIIT and its institutional ethos, sharing the dream and vision of the Hon’ble Founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta. His address encouraged students to look beyond their immediate academic pursuits, to dream ambitiously, embrace opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to society. His engagement with the students reflected the University’s commitment to nurturing not only academically capable graduates but also confident, connected, and socially conscious individuals.

The programme concluded on an enthusiastic note, with students expressing excitement about their journey ahead and the possibilities of continued engagement. The School of Liberal Studies looks forward to many more such interactions and initiatives that will further strengthen connections among students, faculty, and the wider KIIT community. The interaction marked not just the beginning of a new academic journey for the first-year students, but also another step towards building one united, vibrant, and connected School of Liberal Studies.
