The Department of Sociology, KIIT School of Liberal Studies, organised a student seminar on the theme “New Waves of Social Movements” on 21 August 2026. The seminar focused on contemporary student movements and examined youth movements in post-independent India through a chronological perspective. Discussions covered the causes and characteristics of recent student movements, their similarities and differences with earlier movements, and the application of contemporary sociological theories to understand them. The seminar provided students with an opportunity to engage critically with social movements and their changing forms.
